Project Details

  • Have you ever lost a recipe? Or been at the grocery store and forgot that one specific ingredient that makes or breaks the entire dish?

RecipeMe seeks to organize all your favorite recipes in a categorical way to make them easy to find, share, and add on a mobile device.

  • Research, Design, creating mockups, wire-frames, and prototypes

  • 18-40 year olds. Job demographics range from stay at home moms to business owners.

  • I began by interviewing food truck owners asking how they trained oncoming employees. They stated recipes were often written down, but inevitable destroyed over time from grease or heat. They expressed a need for a way to share recipes easily with new employees.

I also conducted a competitive audit against companies such as Pinterest. Pinterest doesn’t allow someone to upload a website unless hyperlinked. Pinterest also requires specific user profiles to share.

  • I began brainstorming through paper wireframes. After narrowing down features I thought looked and would function best I created mockups using Figma.

  • I conducted a usability study with five people of various ages and backgrounds. I used my low-fidelity prototype. While the overall response was positive, users brought up some key insights.

Users stated that there was no clear way to share recipes and buttons were unclear. All these insights were taken into consideration when creating the high-fidelity prototype.

  • rom the first round of mockups I created a low-fidelity prototype to ensure the app moved and functioned as I envisioned it.

After the first round I began to create my high-fidelity prototype which included adding responsive buttons, colors, typography, and iconography. I also added interactions to create a more complete version of the final product.

  • Moving forward, I would love to add more features such as san explore page to find new recipes. I also hope to add a feature that copies the recipe list or instructions directly into your notes or messages to share.

As my very first UX Design project, I learned a lot from the whole process. I learned about the whole design process from ideation to publishing a high-fidelity prototype and all the steps in between. I also learned about the importance of accounting for accessibility in things such as font, color scapes, and accessibility features like speech to text. While I learned a lot now, I look forward to learning a lot more in the future.
